Often, families face difficulties and problems related to their organization, structure, hierarchy, boundary style, and the creation of alliances among their members. Through therapeutic interventions, the family will be assisted in establishing clearer boundaries, becoming more flexible, especially as it navigates transitional situations (such as children growing up, dealing with losses, facing health issues, etc.). With the modifications made by the family with the help of the therapist, the structure that hinders and prevents it from functioning smoothly will change. As the therapist engages with the family (or its members in therapy), a restructuring of the family occurs through the therapeutic plan he has formulated and implemented in the sessions. Dysfunctional ways of family functioning are transformed, and new, more effective operating models are applied through the therapist's interventions. The interaction among family members during the course of therapy undergoes positive changes.
